Project Officer, Career Services. I work with career information products, the Job Guide, expos and conferences. It’s quite a varied role—but it’s great actually. I’ve done work in policy, programs and event management. I have skills I thought I’d never get. I feel like I’m doing some positive things and hopefully achieving positive outcomes.
My biggest highlight so far was having the chance to lead my team in organising a parent forum for National Safe School Week in Adelaide last year. I also travelled to a lot of interesting places—Brisbane, Cairns, Bateman’s Bay, Melbourne and Adelaide.
Quite nervous to begin with but at the breakfast event I started talking to this lady, who made me feel at ease. I later found out the lady I had been chatting to over coffee and a croissant was the Secretary of the Department, Lisa Paul!
Having the opportunity to reach people through my work. I help people to access high-quality career information and promote lifelong learning. I think education, whatever your background, is the true key to having the most fulfilling and positive future. The Graduate Program gives you the unique opportunity to help young people in one rotation and, in the next, help a retiree to get back into the workforce, which I think’s pretty exciting.
