The best thing about the Graduate Program is that it has three rotations so you get to experience work in different areas and choose what you really like to do. Usually after uni you don’t know what it’s like to be working full-time. The attractive thing about DEEWR is that it’s a big government department and there are a lot of opportunities.
Meeting the other graduates in the program—you make so many friends, even if you’re really quiet like me.
I get to learn to use accounting software, which is very useful. This is a very important experience to have, and what I like most about my job.
Getting used to waking up early every morning! Also, the change of moving away from home, and suddenly going from study to working full-time. But it was quite easy to settle in because everyone has been really nice and helpful.
I wanted to but I thought it was really hard to get in. So I’ve been lucky. But time flies—I still feel like a graduate here!
