2004 Graduate Program – economics

Marjorie RegoLabour Market Analysist, which was my second rotation as a graduate. I analyse data and put it in a way so other people—like our Ministers—understand it.

I studied a commerce degree at Sydney Uni. This is my first full-time job.

I liked the fact that it had an economic stream. I also didn’t have any plans to continue at uni. A lot of other departments preferred Honours degrees or Masters.

I always did well and enjoyed it, probably more than most people!

I had no idea what it was going to be like—transition from uni life was a big jump. My supervisor was a grad from the previous year, so I found that helpful because she had experiences from the year before so we could relate on that level. The Graduate Program was also very social, with a lot of interaction outside work and on weekends.

It’s a good way to start your working career. There’s a lot of training, and it provides a good transition from uni to work with plenty of guidance and support.
