Business Analyst
I did some elective Information Systems subjects at uni. I really enjoyed it so started doing some industry placements.
We design new systems and make enhancements to improve current systems for all our providers across Australia. I like being the link between the users and the ‘techo‛ developers. I act as an interpreter—I find out what users need and then express that in technical terms.
A lot of opportunities. There are many different programs to work on and supervisors encourage learning, development and career progression.
I’ve moved up and found it a fairly quick progression. Opportunities are definitely there to be had. You get a lot of exposure and chances to prove yourself.
A huge amount of industry experience. I am lucky to have gained experience as a business analyst and worked with good supervisors. We also liaise with a number of other departments, so I’ve gained great system knowledge exposure and a lot of on-the-job experience that’s going to be invaluable for my future within the department.
